Rolex introduced the Day-Date in 1956 as the first wristwatch to show both the date and the day of the week spelled out in full. It is made only in precious metals and is usually paired with the President bracelet.
Older references such as 18238 and 118238 are 36 mm in yellow gold. Ask about the bracelet's stretch, the original papers and when the watch was last serviced, as these affect value on a gold watch.
