Know who you're
dealing with.
Before anyone can sell on Watchport we confirm who they are, and where the money will be paid. How that is done depends on the seller.
See how verification worksHow sellers are checked
There is no single check that fits everyone. A Dane selling one watch, and a dealer in another country, are verified in different ways. Choose a case to see the route it follows.
Private sellers in Denmark
People selling their own watches, not a company.
- 01
Identity confirmed with MitID
They sign in with MitID, the Danish national eID, through our payment partner SafePay Nordic. That confirms their legal name and personal identity.
- 02
Payout account set up
SafePay Nordic sets up the bank account their sale proceeds will later be paid into.

View requirements
- A MitID sign-in completed by the person who owns the account.
- A bank account in the seller's own name for the payout.
- Approval by the Watchport team before the first listing is published.
This selector explains the process. It does not start an application and it does not verify you. You may also see the terms KYC and KYB elsewhere. KYC simply means checking who a person is. KYB means the same for a company, including who stands behind it.
What we ask of buyers
Very little at the start, and a little more the closer you get to paying.
Explore
Browsing and saving watches is open to everyone. No account is needed to look.
Contact a seller
You need a free account with a confirmed email address, so we know a real inbox sits behind the message.
More detail
New accounts can only reach a small number of sellers in their first 24 hours, which keeps bulk outreach and impersonation off the platform. The limit lifts on its own.
Buy
Payment is made to SafePay Nordic, our escrow partner, and you give the delivery address the watch should go to.
More detail
Buyers are not asked for MitID. SafePay Nordic handles the payment and applies its own requirements to the payer as a regulated payments provider. Your money stays with SafePay Nordic until the watch has reached you, and you then have 48 hours to inspect it before the payment is released to the seller.
Two companies, two jobs
Watchport
- Marketplace
- Seller review
- Listing rules
We run the marketplace. We review seller applications and their documentation, approve or decline accounts, and decide what may be listed. Watches are owned and described by the sellers themselves. Watchport is not a bank and never holds your payment.

SafePay Nordic
- Escrow
- MitID sign-in
- Payout accounts
SafePay Nordic is our escrow partner. It holds the buyer's payment, runs the MitID sign-in used in the Danish routes, sets up each seller's payout account and applies its own compliance checks before money is released.
What the badge actually means
The badge appears once at least one of these is on file for the seller: their identity confirmed with MitID, their company registration confirmed by Watchport, or their payout account verified by SafePay Nordic. Which of those applies is shown on each seller's profile.
These checks cover the seller, not the individual watch. Watchport does not authenticate every watch listed. Each purchase is held in escrow with SafePay Nordic and you have 48 hours to inspect the watch after delivery before the payment is released.
Illustrative example
Private seller, Denmark
Selling one watch of their own
On this route the badge rests on a MitID identity check and a payout account verified by SafePay Nordic. Other routes rest on other checks, shown on each seller's profile.
One route shown. Another seller's profile may show a different set of checks.
