Rolex Datejust 41 for sale

The Datejust 41 is Rolex's classic Datejust in a 41 mm case, made since 2016 with calibre 3235. The first choice is the bezel: smooth steel on reference 126300 or fluted white gold on 126334. After that it comes down to dial and bracelet.

    Buying guide: Rolex Datejust 41

    What defines the Datejust 41

Rolex introduced the Datejust 41 in 2016, first in yellow and Everose Rolesor. The Oystersteel versions, references 126300 and 126334, followed in 2017.

It keeps the familiar Datejust layout: the date at 3 o'clock under a Cyclops lens, an Oyster case waterproof to 100 metres and a smooth or fluted bezel.

Compared with the Datejust II it replaced, the case is slimmer, the lugs are finer and the bezel is narrower. It looks more like a larger Datejust 36 than a separate model.

Inside is calibre 3235 with a power reserve of about 70 hours. Rolex certifies it as a Superlative Chronometer, regulated to -2/+2 seconds a day once cased.

Not the same as the Datejust II (2009–2016). It is also 41 mm, but has a broader bezel, wider hour markers and calibre 3136. On Watchport the two models have separate pages.

    Choosing a reference

Most steel Datejust 41s you will see are one of two references. They share case, size and movement, and both are offered on an Oyster or a Jubilee bracelet. The difference is the bezel.

Fixed by the reference: case metal and bezel. Varies within each reference: dial and bracelet. In Rolex's catalogue the full reference, for example 126334-0016, identifies the exact dial and bracelet. Rolex also makes Datejust 41s in yellow and Everose Rolesor with gold centre links; these have their own references.

    Bezel
The smooth steel bezel is quieter and blends into the case. The fluted white gold bezel catches the light and is the traditional Datejust look. On 126334 the gold is in the bezel; case and bracelet are Oystersteel.
    Bracelet
The Oyster bracelet has three flat links and feels sportier. The Jubilee has five smaller links and is dressier and more supple. The Oyster bracelet has the Easylink extension, which adds about 5 mm when you need it.
    Dial
Rolex has offered many dials, including blue, black, silver, slate, white and mint green, some with Roman numerals or diamond hour markers. Not every dial is still made, and only some are on Watchport at any one time.

    Buying a pre-owned Datejust 41

    Condition
Compare the stated condition with the photos. Look at the bezel edge, the clasp and the polished surfaces between the lugs.
    Polishing
Polishing can soften the sharp case edges. Treat a watch as polished or unpolished only if the seller says so. Ask if the listing doesn't mention it.
    Bracelet
Check for stretch between the links, especially on a Jubilee. Ask whether all the removed links are included.
    Service history
Ask for receipts if the watch has been serviced. Rolex's guarantee runs for five years from the date on the warranty card, so a recent watch may still be covered.
    Box and papers
The warranty card shows the model reference, the serial number and the date of sale. The four-digit suffix for dial and bracelet is not always printed, so compare the dial and bracelet in the photos with the listing.
    The stated year
The year is what the seller enters as year of production. Dealers often take it from the warranty card, which shows the date of sale, so it can differ from the year the watch was made. Watchport does not check the year against Rolex's records. Ask for a photo of the warranty card if the year matters to you.
    What Watchport checks
Sellers with the "Verified seller" badge have had their identity or company checked. Watchport does not physically inspect each watch before sale. When you buy from a private seller, a watchmaker always inspects the watch before it is sent to you. This is required. When you buy from a dealer, you can choose to add the watchmaker check at checkout.

We only show what the seller states. Where condition, polishing or service is not described, ask the seller before you buy.

Questions about the Rolex Datejust 41

What is the difference between 126300 and 126334?

The bezel. 126300 has a smooth Oystersteel bezel and 126334 a fluted bezel in 18 ct white gold. Case, size and movement are the same, and both come on Oyster or Jubilee bracelets.

Is the Datejust 41 the same as the Datejust II?

No. Both are 41 mm, but the Datejust II (2009–2016) has a broader bezel, wider hour markers and calibre 3136. The Datejust 41 replaced it in 2016 with a slimmer case and calibre 3235.

Can a Datejust 41 be from before 2016?

No. Rolex introduced the Datejust 41 in 2016, and the steel references 126300 and 126334 in 2017. A 41 mm Datejust from before 2016 is a Datejust II.

What do the four digits after the dash mean?

In Rolex's full reference, such as 126334-0016, they identify the dial and bracelet. The suffix is not always printed on the papers, so the dial and bracelet in the photos are the best guide.

    Oyster or Jubilee bracelet?

Both are offered on 126300 and 126334. The Oyster has three flat links and looks sportier. The Jubilee has five smaller links and looks dressier. It comes down to taste.

How long does it run off the wrist?

Calibre 3235 has a power reserve of about 70 hours, so it keeps running over a weekend.
